LOGIC AND ACCURACY TESTING PUBLIC NOTICE

Notice is hereby given that the logic and accuracy testing and preparation of voting equipment to be used in the November 3, 2020 General/Special Election will begin at 9:00 a.m. September 18, 2020. Testing will continue until complete and is open to the public. Said testing and preparation will be conducted at 434 Hancock St. Madison, Georgia.

NOTICE OF ELECTION CANCELLATION

Pursuant to O.C.G.A. §21-2-291 and § 21-2-325, notice is hereby given that The City of Rutledge Special Election scheduled for November 3, 2020, is cancelled. The following candidate has qualified for office and is unopposed:

The above unopposed candidate shall be deemed to have voted for himself.

CALL OF ELECTION - TO THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF MORGAN COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT, GEORGIA 

The Morgan County Board of Elections and Registration hereby calls a special election to be held on the 3rd day of November, 2020, at the regular polling places in all the election districts of Morgan County at which time there will be submitted to the qualified voters of Morgan County for their determination the question of whether a special sales and use tax for educational purposes of one percent shall continue to be levied, imposed and collected on all sales and uses in Morgan County for a period of time not to exceed twenty (20) calendar quarters and for the purpose of raising not more than $27,000,000 of net proceeds by said tax, which shall go to the School District for the purpose of (i) paying a portion of the principal and interest due on outstanding Morgan County School District (Georgia) General Obligation Bonds, Series 2017 and 2018, the maximum amount of total debt service to be paid shall not exceed $20,400,000; (ii) adding to, renovating, repairing, improving, and equipping existing school buildings and other buildings and facilities useful or desirable in connection therewith, (iii) acquiring technology improvements for existing schools, including safety and security improvements, computer technology, hardware and software, (iv) acquiring school buses, maintenance vehicles and equipment, (v) acquiring any necessary property therefor, both real and personal, (vi) acquire band instruments, textbooks and instructional materials, and (vii) to pay expenses incident to accomplishing the foregoing.

The ballots to be used at such referendum shall have written or printed thereon substantially the following:

The several places for holding said referendum shall be at the regular and established voting precincts of the election districts of Morgan County, Georgia, and the polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on the date fixed for the referendum. All polling places will be open.

The last day to register to vote in this referendum shall be the close of business on October 5, 2020.

Those residents of Morgan County qualified to vote at such referendum shall be determined in all respects in accordance with the election laws of the State of Georgia.

This call of election is given pursuant to a resolution of the Morgan County Board of Education adopted on June 8, 2020.

CALL FOR SPECIAL ELECTION - CITY OF RUTLEDGE

Notice is hereby given that, in accordance with O.C.G.A. § 21-2-540, a Special Election shall be held in the City of Rutledge, Georgia to fill the vacancy in the position of Council Member Post #1, previously held by Timothy Smith. The Special Election will be held on November 3, 2020 in conjunction with the November 3, 2020 General/Special Election.

Qualifying for the Special Election shall be held at Morgan County Board of Elections and Registration office, 434 Hancock St. Madison GA, August 17, 2020 - August 19, 2020, 8:30a.m. to 4:30p.m. daily. The qualifying fee shall be $9.00. The check will be made payable to the City of Rutledge.

All persons who are not registered to vote and who desire to register to vote in the Special Election may register to vote through the close of business on October 5th, 2020.

Early voting will be held at Morgan County Board of Elections and Registration Office, October 12-30, 2020 8:00a.m. to 5:00p.m. at 434 Hancock St. Madison, GA.

Polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Election Day. The municipal polling location has been TEMPORARILY moved to your county polling location. The change in polling location is for this Special Election only.

The runoff election, if required, will be held on December 1, 2020.

CALL FOR SPECIAL ELECTION - CITY OF BOSTWICK 

Notice is hereby given that, in accordance, with OCGA 21-2-540, a Special Election shall be held in the City of Bostwick for the purpose of submitting to the qualified voters for their determination the following question:

( ) YES Shall the governing authority of the City of Bostwick be authorized

( ) NO to cease the fluoridation of its water system?

All persons desiring to vote to allow the City to cease fluoridating its water system shall vote “Yes,” and those persons desiring to vote to require the City to continue fluoridating its water system shall vote “No.” If more than one-half of the votes cast on the question are to allow the cessation of the fluoridation of the City’s water system, the governing authority may cease such fluoridation at any time after the certification of the election results. Otherwise, the City shall be required to continue fluoridating its water system.

All persons who are not registered to vote and who desire to register to vote in the Special Election may register to vote through the close of business on October 5th, 2020.

Early voting will be held at Morgan County Board of Elections and Registration Office, October 12-30, 2020 8:00a.m. to 5:00p.m. at 434 Hancock St. Madison, GA.
