Alcoholic Beverage Licensing

The Morgan County Planning and Development department issues all Alcoholic Beverage Licenses for unincorporated Morgan County.

These licenses include:

• package sales on malt beverages and wine
• sales of malt beverages and wine on premises
• wholesale of malt beverages and wine
• alcoholic beverage catering special event permits (e.g., charitable organizations and political fundraisers)

Occupational Tax Certificate 

An Occupational Tax Certificate, commonly referred to as a business license, is issued upon the registration of a business and payment of the established fee.

Pursuant to Morgan County Code of Ordinances, §66-29 regarding Occupation Tax, each person engaged in any business, trade, profession, or occupation in the unincorporated areas of Morgan County, Georgia, shall pay an occupation tax for said business, trade, profession, or occupation.

An Occupational Tax Certificate:

• Shall be displayed by the business owner in a conspicuous place within the business premises at all times
• All Occupational Tax Certificates expire on December 31 of the year the certificate was issued
• It is not transferable

Peddler and Itinerant Merchants License

Each peddler and itinerant merchant, as such terms are defined in section 66-46 of the Morgan County Code of Ordinances, who does business within the unincorporated areas of the county shall be required to obtain a license from the Planning and Development department.

Prior to the issuance of a peddlers and itinerant merchants license, you will be required to complete a fingerprint and background check with the Morgan County Sheriff's Office. A valid photo ID and Georgia Security and Immigration Compliance Act Affidavit is required for ALL new APPLICANTS.
